The AMPLATZER® Septal Occluder is the first catheter delivered atrial septal closure device approved in the United States. Atrial septal defects are caused by incomplete growth of the tissue wall (septum) that separates the upper chambers of the heart (atria).
AGA Medical designed the AMPLATZER® PFO Occluder for closure of a patent foramen ovale using a minimally-invasive transcatheter procedure instead of surgery. A patent foramen ovale is a small opening in the wall (septum) between the left atrium and the right atrium.
The AMPLATZER® Cardiac Plug is designed for closure of the left atrial appendage. The left atrial appendage is a small pouch shaped structure that is connected to the left atrium.
AGA Medical designed the AMPLATZER® Duct Occluders to allow closure of PDA defects using a minimally-invasive catheter procedure instead of surgery.

The devices in the AMPLATZER® Vascular Plug Family block (embolize) peripheral veins and arteries to reduce or eliminate blood flow to a targeted organ, or to reroute blood flow through other vessels.
The AMPLATZER® Muscular, P.I. Muscular and Membranous VSD Occluders are designed to repair ventricular septal defects. Ventricular septal defects are caused by incomplete growth of the tissue wall (septum) that separates the lower chambers of the heart (ventricles).
AGA Medical Corporation products are delivered using specially designed accessories for access, assessment, preparation and delivery.
